[OT] In defense of Google

Yes, I pretty much agree with everything you've said. I am particulary 
impressed with Google taking a stand with the (in)Justice department whereas 
the others just knuckled under to pressure.  Think about that. The *biggest* 
search engine company taking a firm stand against privacy invasion.

In a word: WOW!

Now, I am not so naive to not recognize the fact that taking such a stand 
would figure favorably to Google popularity, but I have no problems with 
that. Just the fact they took the stand at all is extremely meaningful on a 
number of fronts. For starters, it sends a message to our noisome government 
that they just *can't* invade our privacy willy-nilly whenever they like. 
Perhaps they'll take pause before the next blatant attempt at violating us 
all.
