Free kernel memory

Hi All,

I am looking for a way to flush the cached memory from a system. The reason is that tools like free have output like:
nashua:~# free -m
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 3042 2890 152 0 193 1757
-/+ buffers/cache: 938 2103
Swap: 956 4 951

I'm looking for a way to flush the cache and buffers so that memory that is not currently in use shows in the "free" pool. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Kenny
