This is a good idea even on modern systems. Gnome and KDE are huge
resource hogs which don't really add anything useful, IMO. The fact
that they use so many resources means you're wasting a huge amount of
energy, which, on a laptop, is important. Though I guess if it's a
OLPC system, it at least means you'll get some pretty regular
excercies ;)
