Fwd: Educational Linux distros?

GCompris (a play on words from the French for "I understand") comes
with edubuntu and is packaged for Debian (plus a whole lot of
distros).

I can tell you from personal experience that it's quite nice for kids
to play and learn with -- meaning that I'm a big kid that plays with
it, and my own kids do too ;-).  The latest version has a fair amount
of updates to it, although I'm not sure if those updates are found in
Debian 'stable' yet
