There are lots of fairly elegant solutions to this problem (using
things like iptables, traffic shaping, flux capacitors, etc.). You
should probably use one of them.
A non-elegant solution I used in the past was to force traffic
through a direct serial link between two Linux boxes. If that isn't
bad enough, use a direct modem-to-modem link (no talk battery or dial
tone needed).
