Redhat's GFS - a question

Hi folks,
I'm trying to wrap my head around GFS and there seems to be something I'm
not getting. Figure 1 on this page:
http://www.redhat.com/magazine/008jun05/features/gfs_nfs/ seems to be
missing a layer. There doesn't seem to be any clients on the GFS side of the
figure.
