yes.

Detect isn't the easest part as all the channel numbers are
different. (the set-top box does a huge channel number conversion for
the user). 

The mythtv database lets you map frequency/subchannel into a
user-presentable channel number so it will match the data from
zap2it.  Not the easiest thing to figure out (requres scan,
watch, tweak, repeat), but it does work.

You can also just plug in the coax to a HDTV with a digital tuner and
get the same result.
