CD/DVD/ISO images, readcd adding extra bytes at EOF?

I've had a number of problems with downloaded ISOs of Fedora lately. I will
run them through the media check and find errors. Sometimes I've found a
corrupted rpm during the install after I've gone through that.
It's either the proxy at work, my CD burner or .. cosmic rays ;-) *sigh*
