Exactly.

And as others pointed out, starting for not much more, you can rent an
entire box and not have to handle any hardware at all.  (Not meant as
a slight at all, because as you said...

Exactly.  Being the cheapest isn't worthwhile... you don't make the
money and you end up spending more and more time.  Consulting is much
the same way: the clients who want it cheap often are the worst ones
to deal with.
