I've only been using Linux for about a year. I've personally learned a lot
just by throwing myself into the whole mess. Nothing beats just setting up
a machine doing it. Since that only gets you started, I found that the
resources below help.
http://linuxreality.com/ - New User Podcast (terrific)
New Podcasts - either just getting started or new to me:
http://goinglinux.com
http://thelip.net
I would also suggest some of the moderate to advanced user podcasts. You
can get an incomplete list at http://thelinuxlink.net/.
I check out the WFTL Lug when I have time:

Monitoring DIGG for interesting articles is great but can be a little time
consuming (a lot of garbage to sort through)
Start with Ubuntu and utilize its community. The wiki is great and the IRC
channel is friendlier than most. Since it seems to be the Linux darling
right now, there are a lot of blogs and articles that help get things done.
There's a decent online course over at http://linuxbasics.org. You can take
it on your own and does enough to get you going.
I get a lot of ideas from http://howtoforge.com
Personally, I think that you making yourself available to answer questions
would help a lot. That's something that I'm missing and would treasure. I
don't personally know anyone with Linux experience, and think just watching
a sysadmin do his job and asking questions would be an insanely useful way
to learn. (anyone need an apprentice?)
Hope that helps
