LOL.  I don't think that's part of the protocol, Ben. :)

Note that, in my /etc/ez-ipupdate/ez-ipupdate.conf, I specified:

max-interval=2160000

This interval, 2160000 seconds or exactly 25 days, was chosen very
carefully to comply with DynDNS's non-abuse policy.  I haven't
received any "love notes" from DynDNS in over a month now.  So,
*something* I did seems to be working....  Maybe you should try using
this magic interval. :)
