Application-accessible nvram/cache for Linux?

  Eh, at some point, you have to depend on the customer not to frell
up the hardware.  What if they rip the NVRAM card out of the server
while it's running?  (You may laugh, but I have seen cards get ripped
out of a server while it was running, albeit not on purpose.)

  If you're that worried about it, only sell the system as a package,
complete with server, UPS, UPS monitoring system, and locking
equipment cabinet.  Have the software refuse to start if the UPS
monitoring system doesn't give you a green light.  Have the software
shutdown on anything other than continued green light.

  I once saw an industrial PC-type system with a built-in UPS, but
that's really just a fancier version of the above.  It's just about
how you define "computer".
