VMWare player under Linux

I've gotten VMWare Player working under Debian, and it's Really Cool, but I
have one gripe I was hoping someone might have pointers for... I googled and
came up with pages and pages of info that failed to help.  When I'm running
a guest OS under Player, there's a toolbar always visible at the top.  I
want to get rid of it!  A co-worker using Windows is able to get real
fullscreen in his VM's, so I know it's possible -anyone have germane
experience?
