Well, perhaps I should re-phrase. I've never *needed* to do that. In
every case I've needed to back-port a package, all the requisite libs
have already been installed, just older versions (keep in mind, I
maintain a development environment, we have -dev of everything already
installed :)
When I need to back port a package it's because we need a newer
version of *that* package and can't afford to upgrade all the
dependancies, since those dependancies are also dependancies of most
of the *other* packages we don't want/can't afford to upgrade.
In most cases, the package we're updating is a development tool like
valgrind which has a single dependancy upon libc6.
