Liberation Fonts?

Seconded. I've installed them on my MacBook and started to use them in 
Open Office. Installing on the Mac is really easy, too. Just download 
the ttf tarball, open the tarball with Stuffit Expander, then open the 
fonts in the resulting folder. Font Book pops up and has a button to 
install the fonts. By default they are installed for the current user, 
but you can drag them to the Computer section and install them for 
everyone on the Mac.

I like the look of the font. The characters have nice, clean lines.
