[OT] Verizon/FairPoint sale (was: Comcast!?!?)

My two cents.
I am an IBEW employed tech in NH. From a consumer point of view this 
deal is just plain bad. Don't take my word for it go to 
http://puc.nh.gov/Telecom/VerizonSaleToFairpoint.htm and read the 
testimonies from David Brevitz and Susan M. Baldwin from the Office of 
the Consumer Advocate. Do some price comparisons yourself. Fairpoint 
charges $34.95 for 384k/256k (Yeah thats a k ;) ). Most importantly look 
at the financials of this deal. Fairpoint is not a communications 
company, there a holding/acquisition company.
