I was a little concerned about upgrading as I've been using an old version of
KnoppMyth based on .15 or something that I built probably over 2 years ago.
That said, I backed up the machine, formatted, installed a fresh new Debian
Etch base, and then built mythtv from their SVN tree in only a few hours and
mostly it just worked. I'm impressed since I did have some trouble way back
when I built this setup originally.
Even bringing in my old data was incredibly easy, since just starting the
backend with an older database causes it to automatically upgrade the
database schema step-by-step. It was a lot less painful than I expected and
now I'm up-to-date and using Schedules Direct and all. I'm happy.
