Linux RAID management utilities?

Somebody stop me before I start writing some code here....

I'm getting the itch to have something that understands /proc/ 
mdstat, /proc/paritions, RAID UUID's, /sys/block/md*, etc., and lets  
me easily say:

   "rebuild the raid arrays with missing members based on UUID", etc.

mdadm seems to have the proper verbs, but needs something to feed it  
nouns.

Google and freshmeat turned up nothing that quite fits the bill.   
Does anybody know of an obvious tool I missed?
