Oh, I meant to mention something else. You can force a clock source
change by writing to current_clocksource with:
echo tsc > current_clocksource
echo hpet > current_clocksource
I did just do a quick lookaround at the CLOCKSOURCE_WATCHDOG option,
and there seems to be an awefull lot of reports of issues with pretty
much every type of clock source out there between 2.6.16-2.6.25.
Seems like searching google, I can find bugs of each and every
clocksource. LOL.
I say, it's time to go to clockless processors! :-D
