I can't tell much about the PalmOS-replacement part as I have never used
PalmOS, but I'll second what Bill has already said about hardware.
I'm not depending on N810 for work/personal stuff, so my criticism may
be somewhat more forgiving. I did a side-by-side web browsing comparison
with an iPhone. The same web page (cnn.com) was still readable on N810,
but not legible on iPhone without zooming/panning. G1's screen is even
worse, IMO.

WiFi so far worked very well for me. The most surprising was the ease of
connecting to a recently introduced WPA2-Enterprise wireless network
here at work. For a comparison, I have never succeeded in connecting to
it with WinXP laptop. Later Ubuntu/Fedora do connect, but after quite
some mucking with settings/certs/keys etc. and then the connection phase
seems to take forever.

I have "survived" several trips using N810 as a GPS unit, web browser,
email client (claws-mail with four IMAP/TLS accounts) and quite a bit of
remote sysadmin tasks on the command line. All worked OK, though GPS is
slow to start ("getting a fix"). Skype video didn't work in my case. SIP
client worked with Ekiga and Wengo accounts including video, but calls
were dropped too often.

Bluetooth to a GSM phone and then data over GPRS worked fine.

I miss N810 not being a quad-band GSM though :). Also, given the outer
dimensions of the device, the screen might have been even bigger (why
isn't it possible to get rid of the bezel altogether?..).

If you wish, you can borrow mine for a "test drive" for a week or so.
I'm in Hanover though.
