  Yes, before they implemented asterisk, they had to type out every
file name manually.  Now they can just do "rm *.c".  Obviously, in a
directory full of source files, this is a huge improvement.  They were
able to eliminate three full-time positions whose only job was typing
out file names.  Hence the cost savings.
