If you want to look for a reason, I imagine it's simply camaraderie.
Microsoft does whatever it can to always be nipping at Google's heels
(no matter how tangential a Google project is), just as Microsoft
works hard to sell against Linux. It's sort of like hanging around
the water cooler bitching about black flies.
I'm just waiting for Google to open a pet store in Mountain View just
so they can giggle themselves silly when Microsoft opens a pet store
in Redmond two months later.
