Some library and packaging advice please?

I read this, and for a moment I panicked, since I thought that one of my
favorite HOWTOs had been violated.

Then I realized that I was reading a different HOWTO it was this HOWTO:

which I had found one day and which has a particularly fine section on
the Samovar, and which as a HOWTO that should be of interest to many
Free Software people has somehow never made it into tldp....and all was
fine again.

And (for you Linux historians) notice that this was written by Dániel
Nagy when he was at Mission Critical Linux in 2001...just a short drive
down the Everett Turnpike into Lowell.
