How can I mount NTFS?

I installed Fedora Core 9 on my Compaq Presario. Apparently MS 
considered it a problem, because I was forced to "restore" the system to 
"shipped" condition.

I did the restore thing, but that just made the computer useless. I 
re-grubbed it, and can get back to Linux, but I need to be able to 
access the ntfs (XP) partition so I can back it up before I wipe it.

I installed ntfsprogs, but I still can't mount. Help?
