The same disk system can also perform differently based on it's own
configuration. For example, if you're creating multiple RAID sets on
the SAN, you probably want to tune those RAID sets for the appropriate
task, but you also want to do things like create the RAID sets (or
underlying storage volumes) such that they span LUNs and controllers.
At these levels of virtualiztion and indirection, there are so many
things that can factor into performance your sanity quickly escapes
you :)
But don't set up a RAID 5 set for something like database access :)
