Holy cow. Across half a dozen personal email accounts I have, I
receive about 1-2 spams per day, without ANY spam filtering. I know
I'm not filtering my mail because I explicitly turned that feature off
in the configs.

When I had an @earthlink.net address, though, I used to get a couple
dozen spam messages per day. And Earthlink _claims_ to have
industry-leading spam filtering.

Maybe spam prevention (much like virus prevention) is more about not
making yourself a target, than it is about defending yourself against
those who target you.
