For those in MA, I'd highly recommend AceDSL via Verizon's ATM cloud.
They (along with many other ISPs) should be able to get you a line in
most of Verizon's COs in eastern MA.

I've had a dry line DSL (no voice) 3m/768k connection to them for
almost 3 years.
Pure IP from their network to the dsl bridge, none of this PPPoE
garbage you'd get with Verizon as the ISP.
The 3 or 4 times I've had to call them, got a real person right away
that knew what they were doing. Oh and someone on their generic
support email even knows what a PTR is without having to explain it
and will change them to whatever you want.
