  Okay, I think this is coming together.

  Someone has volunteered a camcorder.  It even has a mic input.

  Someone else has volunteered a tripod.

  I'm going to borrow a wireless handheld microphone from work.
(For... field testing.  Yah, that's the ticket.)  It's nothing
special, but it works.

  I've already borrowed a mic stand from a friend.

  I'll bring power strips, extension cords, and various cables and
adapters.  I've got tons of that crap.
