Gaming... for three-year-olds...

I have nothing specific to add to this discussion, but I have an anecdote:

A friend of mine with kids that age (circa 5 years old) had put
together an old clunker computer for the kids to play with. It was
old enough that it couldn't run a useful Windows well, so he installed
Linux and a bunch of the kid games for them to play with.

A little while later, he got a fancy brand new PC for himself, so he
hand-me-down'ed his still decent old PC to his kids. That PC had
Windows on it.

The kids disliked it because it didn't have all the nifty games that
Linux came with for free. He had to install Linux to make them happy.

Moral: "It doesn't run any popular applications" is a subjective complaint.
