>we were intoxicated by being able to produce small caps.

I think someone was intoxicated...."small caps"....hmmm.

Well, since Ben rose to the bait.....

Whether or not Dennis wanted to change it, "UNIX(R)" as registered by
the Open Group, holder of the standard, the brand and the trademark, is
"UNIX" (all "big caps").

I remember the time that Jim Joyce (nice guy, ran "The UNIX Bookstore"
at some of the early USENIX meetings) tried to make a T-shirt that said
simply:

                 "UNIX*"

       "*a trademark of Bell Labs"

then the AT&T lawyers showed up........

The lawyers made him change it to:

                "UNIX*"

        "*a trademark of Bell Laboratories"

then the next year:

                "UNIX*"

"*a trademark of AT&T Bell Laboratories"

then the next year:

                "UNIX*"

       "*a trademark of ....."

and so it went for several years until Jim (fed up with the whole thing)
made a shirt with all the trademark attributions on the back, with each
one crossed out but the last one.

Of course my Jeep will be at Marthas, with the license plate:

                  "UNIX"

             Live Free or DIE!

md

P.S. I am not sure if the DIE part is in "large" or "small" caps.
