I can't speak to Ubuntu, but www.gnucash.org says:

  GnuCash is personal and small-business financial-accounting software,
  freely licensed under the GNU GPL and available for GNU/Linux, BSD,
  Solaris, Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows.
