True.  My experience is based on external drives with both USB and
Firewire.  In comparing the two interfaces, I simply switched cables and
copied the data.  Timings were simply based on watching the clock.
Firewire was consistently faster than USB.

I did the timings when I misplaced the firewire cable, used the USB
cable, and was surprised that the copy seemed to take longer.  I found
the firewire cable and ran a few comparisons.
