Hi,

There was a very nice InformationWeek Daily "Image Gallery" article
about the Government's 10 Most Powerful Supercomputers:

http://links.techwebnewsletters.com/ctt?kn=53&m=34942607&r=MTQwMDgyMDE0OQS2&b=2&j=NzQ5NTQzMTES1&mt=1&rt=0

Highlights to the article mention our favorite operating system for the
third most powerful, NASA Ames Research Center's Pleiades:

"Like many of its peers, it runs on a version of enterprise Linux."

although I know the top two also run Linux.

For the sixth most powerful, Sandia National Laboratory's Red Sky:

they have a really cool time lapse video that shows it being installed
and also talks about some of the heating, cooling and environmental
issues around it. If you watch the video, make sure you stop at 4:16
and take a look at the software list for it.

Warmest regards,

maddog

P.S. Ironically, as I was about to send this out, I saw through the
gnhlug-jobs list a solicitation for a "Sr Linux & Unix Research
Administrator-Cambridge, MA" If you are inspired after looking at these
pictures and video, the archives have the job listing.
