Ubuntu Server Set Up must haves...

This morning I'm hoping to install Ubuntu 9.10 Server on a Dell 2950. My
version of the 2950 comes with a PERC4E 'configured' as RAID 5. I think I
have all the info I need for that. (At this point, I don't have much use
for the RAID, but I can see it becoming more important to me in the
future.) According to Ubuntu, the 2950 & 9.04 are compatible, whatever
that means.

Hopefully, when 10.4 LTS comes out, I'll upgrade to that. 8.04LTS is a
bit "old" for me.

Do list members have any suggestions for "must haves" for the Server?

I am planning on
tftp server -- required to boot my external blade computer
nfs server -- required for the external blade computer's file system
ntp
OpenSSH server
Webmin

all gcc build / debug tools
all python / numpy/scipy tools
visualization tools
favorite editors

Any other tools that I might as well install in the beginning?

The intent of the server (for the moment) is a "faster" computation engine
for my engineering software (written in C/C++ and python). At the moment,
I'm the sole user :). I intend to use as many cores as possible...

I've done many Desktop installs of Ubuntu, but none for a server. Any
must haves? Anything I should watch out for?

TIA

Bruce
