VNC, XDMCP might be other options.  If your virtual environment is
VirtualBox, you can use rdesktop.

But FWIW, they, like rsh/rlogin/rexec and telnet servers, usually require
extra steps on the client to set up after the install.  SSH is usually
enabled, except for root.
