X failure after upgrade to Meerkat (Ubuntu 10.10)

Here's my Meerkat xorg.conf for my HP dv9000z laptop, which has the
nVidia Corporation C51 [Geforce Go 6150] (rev a2)
(according to 'lspci'):
---- snip ----
Section "Screen"
        Identifier "Default Screen"
        DefaultDepth 24
EndSection

Section "Module"
        Load "glx"
EndSection

Section "Device"
        Identifier "Default Device"
        Driver "nvidia"
        Option "NoLogo" "True"
EndSection
---- snip ----

As you can see, this is indeed a huge, complex obfuscated file :-)

This system was upgraded to Meerkat after its formal release.

My suggestion would be to sniff the repositories with 'apt-get install nvidia' and see what that gets you. If you have another system running
Ubuntu (even if it's not NVIDIA-equipped), you could use their GUI to
see what drivers are available; I don't recall the exact semantics (I
use openSUSE/KDE primarily; my Ubuntu installation is on one partition
of a large multi-partition USB drive), but you may need to look at the
"xorg-x11-" hierarchy (at least to find the nouveau driver If All Else Fails).

HTH,

Bayard
