Two things to contribute:

1) To the best of my knowledge, Samba can currently act as an AD DC, but not as
a peer with a Windows DC.

2) Samba4 is coming -- yes, really.  While not as complete as people would
like, it's been a solid decade in the making, and they've pretty much decided
that releasing *something* beats eternal vaporware.  A really good writeup can
