Reminds me of an insightful remark that I (vaguely) remember seeing
on Slashdot, a couple years back--something to the effect of
Nvidia and ATI playing a weird game where the first to open up
wins but everyone's afraid to open up.

I really wanted to buy an expensive ATI board when they made
it became clear that they were actually committing to OSS,
but I just couldn't justify it when I had no idea what I'd do
with a piece of 3-D hardware like that. Nice to see China
picking up my slack :)
