I started using a slide rule late in high school, despite it being
anachronistic in the late 1990s. When I took my slide rule bto my SAT II,
as my only auxiliary calculating device, the proctor told me that
I wasn't allowed to use it since it wasn't on the list of approved
calculators.
In retrospect, I wish I'd had the gumption to try getting kicked out
of the test by using it anyway.
