"modern" KVM that works?

It was a cheap learning computer for "kids" with an eye toward being like a
C64/Apple ][/Sinclair/BBC Micro where you supplied the monitor.  Kids in
poor countries is OLPC

All the things you need to add on are commodities.
HDMI and composite are on most TVs.  VGA is not.  Adding VGA would increase
the build.
SD cards, USB keyboards/mice, USB power adapters are everywhere.

If you're buying a new TV, it's going to be HDMI.  You might be able to use
a composite to RF adapter for old TVs.  That's what I had on my Apple ][.
