Strategy for moving off big tech

I was actually just writing up a guide for this. I use Firefox for my
browser, but I make extensive use of the multi-account containers and the
container proxy plugins. I have several proxies set up, one over my own
private VPN and one over Mullvad VPN (who I also recommend). Both using
Wireguard which is a great protocol. The container proxy addon lets you
select which containers use which proxy/VPN or to connect directly which
makes it easy to manage when you do want to connect to some services
directly (for banking where VPN can sometimes cause issues, etc). I also
highly recommend the Cookie Auto-delete addon to clean up cookies from your
default container. KeePassXC and the Firefox addon also make it easy to
manage your passwords without relying on a third party service. Riseup
offers email services, along with XMPP services. I mainly use IRC and XMPP
for chat, along with Signal for SMS. I'm also a big fan of the Matrix
protocol but I don't find as many people using it quite yet. For server
hosting, there are so many options, but I've been relatively happy with
Hetzner, their server auctions have some great deals, although most of
their servers are in Europe so you might not get the best ping if you're
trying to stream video.

Sorry for this messy paragraph, this was just off the top of my head, but
please feel free to reach out if you'd like any further details.
