Enterprise Systems Administrator 

  

Environment

 

The successful candidate will join a leading edge architecture team
responsible for managing a mixed systems and applications environment of
Windows Active Directory and Red Hat Linux on Intel based hardware.
Responsibilities range from traditional Linux and Windows administration
activities to systems analysis, advanced data handling, high performance
networking, application administration and system performance tuning. The
successful candidate will be closely involved in a complete build out and
integration of a new Oracle 9i RAC database and an Oracle 11i E-Business
applications suite in a Linux Red Hat AS 2.1 based environment. The
individual must possess the ability to install Red Hat AS and ES, configure
network and SAN connectivity, apply updates/patches/upgrades and perform
other routine system administrative tasks in addition to working closely
with the database and development teams to help debug Oracle/SQL databases
and related web based applications. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

      

*Administer multiple Linux/Red Hat production, test and development database
and application systems running in an Oracle 9i RAC/11i applications
environment

*Day to day Red Hat Advanced Server 2.1 Administration - Linux
administration kick start/jumpstart server builds, Samba, shell scripting,
administration related program

 development, package installation, software installation, performance
tuning, general OS support including backup and restore. 

*System, application performance & stability monitoring and optimization

*Administer other general Linux and Windows systems running in a Windows
Active Directory networking environment   

*Resource monitoring, scaling of infrastructure as needed

*Configure and install Intel based servers.

      

 

Requirements:

 

 

*Bachelors Degree required

*3+ years of hands-on Linux experience in a mixed Red Hat Linux/Windows
Active Directory environment

*5+ years supporting complex mission critical systems environments 

*Deep and broad understanding of Linux is critically important

*Good experience in network services (Load Balancing, DNS, DHCP, LDAP,
RADIUS, HTTP, SSH, SSL) 

*Knowledge of SQL,  Java, Perl is preferred

*Oracle 9i RAC and Oracle 11i AS experience is preferred

*Experience with Veritas NetBackup Datacenter 4.5 for Linux and Windows

*EMC Clarion CX600 SAN administration

*Apache and general web portal experience a plus

*Experience with VMware ESX Server is a plus

*Windows 2000 server OS and some Active Directory experience is required

*RHCE certification preferred

*Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills with little
supervision (network, hardware, OS, system performance related problems)

*Ability to be proactive, flexible and to work well under pressure in a
supportive team environment 

*Keep abreast of new tools, software, and technology and make
recommendations for future deployment.
