I'm a Technical Search Consultant in MA specializing in permanent Linux
engineering opportunities. One of my clients, a small (under 100 employees)
networking technology company west of Boston is looking for a top notch Linux Guru
with a strong background in WAN/LAN product development. Excellent work

(design), development and group leadership. Exceptional opportunity!
This person would be responsible for architecting, designing and implementing
software solutions for Linux based, next generation Communication Server
products. Research, create architectural designs or design concepts to be used to
support future emerging technologies in the development of current and future
next generation communications Products. Provide leadership and direction to
the various software design teams to insure product software specifications
and product expectations are met. Develop software architectural and software
design specifications, as well as, provide input into design schedules and
resource planning for next generation projects. Apply extensive expertise as a
generalist and specialist as well as creatively suggest, recommend and or
provide solutions to complex design problems.
The primary focus is Linux kernel and application development, C programming,
using open source, glibc, gcc etc. Embedded design and Hardware back ground
knowledge will be a strong advantage. Developing remote presence products for
out of band management and console management, in addition, products provide
remote power control, alarming via wet/dry contacts, control outputs for
turning on relays and etc. Utilizing the MOT 8XX PowerQuicc Embedded processors with
open source Linux as kernel OS.
Requirements:
This position requires (10+) years of experience in the data communications
industry specifically in the areas of Remote Access, LAN and WAN Broadband
technology products. Additionally, the position requires extensive experience in
the Linux / open source and CVS source control environments, as well as:
* C programming language must be mastered, as well as ability to provide
mentorship, assistance and direction.
* Extensive experience and knowledge in developing software within the Linux
operating system, strong knowledge of the kernel mechanisms and kernel
development.
* Experience in Supervisory or Group leader-ship roles.
* Extensive knowledge and experience with the Gdb debugger and its
derivatives.
* Extensive knowledge in Serial Communications and associated protocols.
* Strong knowledge in IP Protocols, Routing technologies and associate
routing protocols.
* Development experience on the Motorola platform/860 Family of embedded
Microprocessors.
* BS or MS in Computer Science or Engineering in a major technical discipline
or demonstrated equivalence.
Helpful Skills to Have:
- Device driver development.
· PCI architecture and drivers.
· Background in assembler language.
- Pthreads on multiprocessors platforms.
· Knowledge in SNMP, including V1, V2 and V3.
· Knowledge in the areas of security, RADIUS, Secure ID, SSH and encryption
standards.
· Experience in the Multiprocessor environment.
