Subject: Linux Build/Release Engineer

Hi,

I'm a technical search consultant in the Boston area and was hoping to alert
your members to an exceptional local job opportunity. One of my clients, a
very early stage start-up developing a linux based wireless product is
looking for a top notch Linux Build /Release Engineer. The company is located in
the 495 North area. This is a tremendous opportunity to join a core
engineering team bringing it's first product to market. Salary is open.

See below job profile.

Title: Sr Linux Build/Release Engineer.

Company: Well funded start-up in a very hot technology area (wireless
application).
Under 25 employees.

Location: 495N area

Reports: Reports to Director of Software Engineering or VP

Environment/Product: Linux shop, building a Linux-based box with kernel,
RFS (radio frequency system) and Application. Targeted for business
applications.

Scope of position: Integrating drivers into the kernel and building code to
implement ‘health monitoring’ functions, bringing up kernel on new board/new
BSP, help build kernel, root file system, partitions and a bootloader that
can handle multiple ‘images’ and a roll-forward, roll-back strategy.
Possibly some software for ‘other’ platforms (Single board computers, with Flash
memory only), and will need to build kernels, RFS and boot options for those
too.

Someone that has worked close to hardware so they can figure out what HW is
being used, look for a Linux driver, and build and integrate it, so the
software team can get at the PC health data that is available.

Req’s: Strong Linux/Unix background, Build and release skills including
source code.
Someone that has worked close to the hardware (engineering team can handle
most of the applications side stuff including DB and such).

Need a person who is 1/2 "software" and 1/2 build/release. I put quotes
around the software part because don't really expect this person to be a kernel
developer type, but need someone who is not afraid to jump in and get his
hands dirty.
