PelletSales.com is the country's largest internet retailer of biomass
heating fuels.  We are seeking a strong Director of Web Architecture to lead
the development of our website and information systems platforms.  Applicant
must be a results-driven, motivated, hands-on professional with extensive
systems and database experience, strong analytical skills, and a creative
approach to problem-solving.  

Individual reports to the company's President.


Responsibilities

Lead external and internal teams to realize improvements all aspects of our
internet sales experience:

*	Drive top line revenue growth by increasing visibility of our
website through SEO and SEM, while concurrently driving up our conversion
rates.
*	Improve interaction of consumers with website, driving down clicks
required per transaction and error driven refresh rates.
*	Interface with internal customer service teams to understand user
needs and how to improve utility of site for internal and external users
*	Drive software development, utilizing both internal resources and
external software development sources, including:

-    Improvements to look and feel of website

-    Improvements to underlying technical architecture of quoting

-    Integration with ERP systems for order & inventory management

-    Establishing interfaces for both internal and external system users

-    Providing a "dashboard" of key metrics for management

*	Own hardware systems, ensuring appropriate infrastructure and
policies.

 

Competencies

The Director of Web Architecture will be the company's primary technical
resource for web development.  At the same time, an understanding of
marketing and how to structure interfaces for users is every bit as
important as technical competence.

*	Extensive experience tuning websites to maximize yields, including
streamlining interfaces and quantitative yield analysis/ marketing savvy.
*	Expert in database design, SQL query logic & Microsoft SQL Server
and Microsoft Access
*	Expert in PHP, Python, Java, ASP.net, C# and Ajax (mixed bag of
existing infrastructure and open source intended long term migration)
*	Extensive experience with the implementation of both traditional and
web-based client-server ERP systems.
*	An ability to interview to gather user needs, and then the technical
skills to provide integrated web based solutions in response to those needs.
*	A team player with excellent communication skills, both written and
verbal.

 

This is a hands-on position in a small organization, with only one other
internal software developer.  There will be an initial push to outsource
significant website development but the Director of Web Architecture will be
expected to take on management and maintenance after the initial push.
