*General Summary: *
The Application Specialist operates one or more applications which are part
of propriety platform. This position includes the process of installing,
controlling, configuring and debugging specific applications. The Specialist
is also responsible for solving technical issues by providing known
solutions (e.g.: optimize configuration settings of an application) and
requires very good troubleshooting experience in a Linux environment.

With a solid background in the technical aspects of operations activities,
the Application Specialist is part of Level-2 support team, assisting
managing and coordinating technical efforts for remediation activities in
the Operations areas. They will also work closely with production
operations, various technical and customer facing teams in Germany and the
US. In addition, this individual will coordinate with Level 3, training and
relevant documentation, and will also execute the Level 2 support for those
applications - as directed by the Applications Specialist Manager.*
Key Responsibilities:
Be available on-call out of hours to assist Level-1 operations, when
production issues require escalation. Willingness to work shifts (24/7).
 Participate in change, release, incident, problem management, and other
workflow activities.  *
Smooth operation of the production applications and workflow process.

Perform application error analysis and troubleshooting during operation.

Function as an interface to several teams i.e. Level-1 customer care team,
development team, networking team, etc.

Provide proper documentation in support of these applications and level-1
teams.

Work with appropriate groups in preparing requirements, capacity and
performance analysis, and planning of all applications.

Work with system administration, development and other teams for optimized
application performance in evaluating and integrating new applications.

Have the knowledge and ability to recognize network, data protocol,
hardware/OS and application level issues, remediate were possible, or ensure
issues are logged, escalated and tracked with the appropriate team for
resolution.


 *Experience and Skills:*
  The specialist must maintain awareness and understanding of interrelation
of existing and potential IDC system infrastructure, data communications,
database technology and application recovery to identify potential problems
and partner with technical teams to develop / recommend solutions.*

Undergraduate degree in computer science, management information systems

Linux engineer certification or equivalent years experience working with
Linux systems.
