Linux Administrator

 

We are seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to join Litle & Co.'s
Infrastructure team. Litle has many exciting projects planned for the
future, driving a requirement to add to our services team. 

 

The projects identified for 2010 and beyond underscore Litle's

infrastructure that requires unprecedented scalability. Systems

Responsibilities include Linux desktop and server builds, maintenance,
and management.  This includes monitoring, patching and participation in
a 7x24 oncall rotation.

Responsibilities:

 

*	Work to support, grow and improve our environment as a member of
the Linux Server team and the larger Network and System Services group
*	Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and desktop
systems
*	Upgrade and apply patches to Linux systems
*	Document processes and system configurations
*	Utilize defined processes and policies, including change
management controls
*	Apply best practices in the application of systems and network
security to all deployments
*	Coordinate with technical staff members to diagnose and address
system and network related failures
*	Cooperate with other groups to solve problems
*	Support personnel in user set-up or workstation related issues
and problems
*	Respond promptly to Linux related trouble tickets
*	Troubleshoot system and application problems
*	Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation in support of our
environment
*	Perform other related duties and responsibilities as necessary

Qualifications:

 

*	Must have at least 2 years of experience administering Linux
systems in a production capacity
*	Proven experience with RedHat Enterprise environments
*	Experience with configuring and supporting Linux systems
*	Scripting skills with an administrative language
*	Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking 
*	Working knowledge of backup software, backup and recovery
strategies and best practices
*	Strong problem solving and analytical skills
*	Excellent verbal and written communication skills
*	Proven ability to work in a team environment
*	Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks within a
dynamic environment
*	Keen attention to detail, self-motivation and self-directedness
*	Professional manner when dealing with internal and external
customers
*	Availability for after-hours work on a periodic basis
*	Continued awareness of developing and emerging technologies with
a willingness and ability to learn new technologies

 

Education 

 

*	BS in IT or Computer Science preferred
*	RedHat RHCE certification preferred

 

Preferred Skills 

 

*	Experience with HTML, PERL, CGI, database application
integration, and security (Intranet, authentication, authorization,
etc.) preferred

*	Previous usage of monitoring and trending systems preferred
*	SAN experience preferred
*	Experience with firewall systems, network and server security a
plus
*	Experience in virtualization technologies and solutions a plus
*	Experience supporting RDBMS software a plus
