:: Overview

    Imagine an icon-ized visage of your boss that activates some
appropriately assigned task on your desktop. Wow! Or perhaps an icon
of your mother-in-law or pet poodle that opens a special menu.

    Máirín Duffy will show how to turn a photograph into an icon using
both GIMP (bit-mapped) and Inkscape (vector). Along the way, she will
demonstrate many important features and tools in these popular
graphics programs.

    You can also end any secret yearning for Windows and Apple graphics
programs. Máirín brings a list of the current Linux equivalents for
many commercial programs, as well as the latest FOSS graphics highlights
from Libre Graphics Meeting 2007 (www.libregraphicsmeeting.org).
