  Well, he tried to download it from wu-ftpd.org, which isn't an ftp
server -- it points to the web server.  Anyhow, I, instead, introduced
him to Red Hat's normal ftp site (including updates) where the rpm was
located.  Simple answer, and all he needed to know.

  Right-o.  I am a zealot in one sense: zealously oppose anything M$. 
Even if, per chance, it is good, it's on principle that I fight it. 
Everything else for me is pretty much to each his own.  FreeBSD vs.
Linux, vi vs. emacs, perl vs. python vs. php vs. ....  And sometimes
even Debian vs. Red Hat.  This case was an exception because, well, *he*
started it!  (he == Ed)  ;-)
