"urpmi telnet-client-krb5 telnet-server-krb5" (at a root prompt) ought to do
it. If you're running the 8.2 PowerPack, these could well be some of the
infamous "missing packages" that are in the d/l edition but not in the
PowerPack; they can be found at any MDK miror site easily enough.
Telnet-server is not installed by default because it is so horribly
insecure; openssh is strongly recommended in its place. The
telnet-client-krb5 package is all you need to perform the tests to which you
refer. The connection should be answered by qmail, not the telnet server, if
qmail is properly configured and you type "telnet localhost 25" (for
example).
